4 relaxation techniques to bring calm & serenity into the everyday

We live in a hectic world. There’s always something to do, somewhere to go and with all of the phones, group texts & social media there is very little chance to escape and just be. But we are Human Be-ings (!) & we need to take that opportunity for ourselves every day, even if it’s just for a couple of minutes. Our ethos at Yogandha is well-being & self-connectedness so we’ve put together a list of five relaxation techniques you can do to take a couple of minutes for you to just….be.

Meditation for beginners..

Meditation can be quite daunting right? So I’m supposed to stop everything I’m doing, sit in silence and try not to listen to my own thoughts buzzing? Sure it may seem like that at first but there are ways that you can ease yourself into it and before you know it you’ll be a zen bunny. Grab your earphones, Sit or lie comfortably and try one of the amazing guided meditations on Youtube or Spotify. It takes only 20 minutes to change your bodies physiology from one of stress to one of calm. Do you have 20 minutes today to do that for yourself?

Grass

Grounding/ Earthing yourself

We are surrounded by computers and electrical devices & buzzing positive electrical charge all day. The surface of the earth has a negative electrical charge. Getting out in your bare feet in your garden or laying down on the grass will get you grounded and take the ‘buzz’ out of your body that phones & laptops put in. Try it today & see what a little dose of grounding can do for you!

Time to breathe

Ever stopped & realised you’ve been rushing so much that your forgetting to breathe properly? Oxygen is so important to us; it is our life force energy and when we are not getting enough of it, our bodies do not work as effectively for us. A body working at half-speed is really not conducive to a busy lifestyle. Here is a short exercise called the 4-7-8 breathing which was founded by the US Sleep expert Dr. Andrew Weil, that you can do to alleviate any stress & get you breathing deeply again.

  • Breathe in for 4 seconds
  • Hold for 7 seconds
  • Breathe out for 8 seconds
  • Repeat x 4
