Patchouli
A main ingredient of incense, patchouli is extremely grounding and has a connection with the base chakra. The leaves of the plant are handpicked two or three times a year. The best oil-producing plant is harvested in the wet season. For many years, the oil has been used in India for medicinal and spiritual purposes, as an aphrodisiac and to perfume cloth. The favored scent of the 60s, it is particularly useful in yoga practice as it serves to bring us out of our minds and into our bodies.
